Meursault

Description

Joseph Drouhin
Meursault

DESCRIPTION:

    • Located a few kilometers south of Beaune, in the celebrated terroir of Côte des Blancs (Slope of the Whites).

    • Meursault is certainly one of the oldest villages in Burgundy.

    • Joseph Drouhin buys grapes from selected vineyards.
    • At harvest time, the grapes are hand-picked and pressed very gently in a pneumatic press.
    • The juice starts to ferment in barrels naturally.
    • The malolactic fermentation is always left to follow its course.
    • Aged in barrels (25% in new oak) for 12 months.

GRAPE VARIETY:

    • 100% Chardonnay

FOOD PAIRINGS:

    • Meursault can be served alone as an aperitif with smoked salmon.
    • At dinner, Meursault is recommended with delicate fish dishes, lobster, foie gras or even poultry, as well as fresh goat cheese.

TASTING NOTES:

A refined wine, well appreciated in the whole world. A beautiful golden color and a great aromatic palette: honey, linden flower (“tilleul”), hazelnut butter, sometimes even chamomile or hawthorn. On the palate, a silky roundness. Long on the aftertaste, with flavors of yellow plum and gingerbread”. – Véronique Boss-Drouhin
