Aloxe-Corton

Description

Joseph Drouhin
Aloxe-Corton

DESCRIPTION:

    • Aloxe-Corton is a village situated in the North of the Cote de Beaune.
    • Its quality comes from the “terroir”: chalky soil with a large proportion of iron giving it a dark brown color.
    • This is where Pinot Noir is planted as opposed to the slope on the Pernand side where pure limestone is preponderant and serves as the realm of Chardonnay and the site of the famous Grand Cru vineyard, Corton-Charlemagne.

GRAPE VARIETY:

    • 100% Pinot Noir

FOOD PAIRINGS:

Excellent with light meats, roast chicken, and mild cheeses.

TASTING NOTES:

“A well-structured wine, without any hardness. Beautiful intense red color. Powerful nose, with aromas of candied fruit, evolving with age towards spicy and musky aromas. A solid framework is felt on the palate. Long aftertaste with flavors reminiscent of the same candied fruit aromas.” – Véronique Drouhin-Boss
