Echezeaux – Grand Cru

Description

Joseph Drouhin
Echezeaux
Grand Cru

DESCRIPTION:

    • This Grand Cru is admirably situated right above Clos Vougeot, another Grand Cru, on a gentle slope facing due East.
    • Le Musigny is just to the North.
    • The Drouhin family owns a .41 ha (one acre) vineyard there.
    • The soil is clay and limestone. It lies on a moderate incline facing due east.

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Pinot Noir

FOOD PAIRINGS: A carefully prepared cuisine would enhance Echezeaux superbly. Also, pair with slowly cooked stews, duck or pheasant, and ripe cheeses.

TASTING NOTES: “Elegance and perfection, two of Joseph Drouhin’s tenets. The color is bright and intense. A full palette of aromas reminiscent of stone fruit (cherry, peach, apricot), cocoa, exotic wood (cedar). On the palate, the texture is like silk and velvet. In the aftertaste, the same touch of dark chocolate is in evidence. Extremely long aftertaste.” – Véronique Drouhin-Boss
